 American football was first introduced in the 19th Century. It has attracted funding and attention from numerous organizations since then. The American Professional Football Association (APFA), was also created in 1920 to organize and run the tournament. It was the precursor to the National Football League (NFL).

What is the oldest nfl team? Two teams are still in the league today: the Arizona Cardinals and Chicago Bears (currently named).

New York Giants

The Giants were established in 1925 and have been known as such since their inception. Tim Mara, a businessman, founded the team. From 1959 to his death, Wellington Mara's son became the owner of the team. Four Super Bowl titles have been won by the Giants. They also won four NFL championships, in 1927 and 1934, 1938, 1938, 1956, and 1956.

The team was known officially as the "New York Football Giants", because MLB had another baseball team in New York City with the same name. Although the club moved to San Francisco in 1993, many loyal fans have remained faithful to the New York Football Giants nickname.

Detroit Lions - Established in 1929 (90 Years ago)

In 1934, the Detroit Lions were founded. George A. Richards was a Detroit radio executive who purchased the Portsmouth Spartans in Ohio for $8,000 which was unheard of at the time. The Spartans were first formed in 1929. They joined the NFL the next year. Two years later, the Spartans participated in the championship game against Chicago Bears. Three major rule changes were made after that game. The NFL was divided into two divisions, and the championship game was played annually.

Washington Redskins (1932).

George Preston Marshall, the Redskins' first owner, founded the team in 1932. After many name changes, he settled on the Redskins name from 1933 to the present.

Marshall decided to move the team's headquarters from Boston to Washington D.C., not satisfied with the attitude of the crowd. The Redskins were also first to start cheerleading and marching bands.

Pittsburgh Steelers (1933).

Philadelphia Eagles (1933).

The Eagles were disbanded in 1926 after a defeat against the Yellowjackets. It was resurrected by Bert Bell and Lud Wilray, who named it the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles took a while to find their form, and they finally did in 1940. If you had to judge, the form of Philadelphia Eagles was not very stable. Things seemed to be improving when the Eagles won the Super Bowl 2017.

Los Angeles Rams (1936)

Cleveland was the Rams' original headquarters in 1936. The team has moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles many times.

The NFL championship was the highlight of the Rams' last season in Cleveland in 1945. Later, they moved to Los Angeles.

Cleveland Browns (1944).
